Caribbean Communities in Nicaragua.

I was travelling for 10 days in the Caribbean Coast, where the Miskita Communities live. The Moskitia is a large area, covers the entire Caribbean coast in Nicaragua and the south part in Honduras. These communities speak their own language (miskito).

We were visiting some little farms that the climate change project of GVC is developing in this area. This project is very interesting, they are trying that the communities start to grow some vegetables near to their houses, in order to improve their feeding and the self-sufficiency. This area is affected by hydro-meteorological hazards.
The next month, the project will build in some schools “ecofogones” that is a kind of kitchen that need less wood, an easy way to reduce the use of firewood.

I was very surprised because in this area you can see some marks of the Felix Hurricane (September 2007).There are a lot of mango trees and coconut trees on the floor, but they are still growing, and People still talk about the hurricane. I spend a wonderful time with his communities, they are very friendly and the place is peaceful and beautiful.
I will recommend you visit this wild and unknown area in Nicaragua.
