The winner is Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Carmona<\/strong> from Spain for his short story \u201cAhmed\u201d<\/strong> inspired in the picture \u201cHebron, one of the streets of the Old City\u201d taken by Miriam Ramos (Palestine\u2019s volunteer). Congratulations Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9!<\/p>\n

Members of the jury: Emmanuele Legay (Nicaragua’s volunteer), Laura Sancho (Colombia’s volunteer), Mar\u00eda Mart\u00edn (Lebanon-Madrid’s volunteers),\u00a0 David Wiersma (Nicaragua’s volunteer), Sandra Victoria Salazar and Rosa Trist\u00e1n (Alianza por la Solidaridad).<\/em><\/p>\n

We received 51 short stories and we also would like to thank all the participants! During the next days, we\u2019ll publish all the stories received.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> <\/span>Miriam Ramos – Palestine – \u00abHebron, one of the streets of the Old City\u00bb.<\/p><\/div>\n

AHMED<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Palestina no existe y ahora sigue comiendo. Me dijo mi padre mir\u00e1ndome fijamente a los ojos. A continuaci\u00f3n apoy\u00f3 sus codos sobre la mesa y desvi\u00f3 la mirada a la televisi\u00f3n. Era su forma de decir que la conversaci\u00f3n hab\u00eda terminado. Ten\u00eda que hablar inmediatamente con Ahmed.<\/p>\n

Conoc\u00ed a Ahmed el invierno pasado. Yo hab\u00eda salido de la escuela y caminaba s\u00f3lo cuando empec\u00e9 a o\u00edr el eco de otros pasos. Se llamaba Srul. Todos le conoc\u00edan en Hebr\u00f3n. A \u00e9l y a sus pu\u00f1os. S\u00e9 que empec\u00e9 a correr. Mucho m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que en las clases de gimnasia. Mucho m\u00e1s que en los partidos de f\u00fatbol, much\u00edsimo m\u00e1s que cuando mam\u00e1 prepara kuguel de manzana. Cuando me di cuenta, hab\u00eda doblado tantas esquinas que no reconoc\u00eda ninguna. En la carrera record\u00e9 haber visto varios soldados en una calle. Ahora ya no hab\u00eda nadie. S\u00f3lo un callej\u00f3n oscuro, cubierto por una red met\u00e1lica. En el techo enrejado hab\u00eda botellas, piedras, basura. A punto de vencerme el miedo, escuch\u00e9 un ruido. Un golpe sordo. Toc, toc, toc. El sonido me llev\u00f3 hasta un ni\u00f1o. Golpeaba un bal\u00f3n medio desinflado contra una pared. Nuestras miradas coincidieron. En unos segundos radiografiamos todas nuestras diferencias y todas nuestras similitudes. Solo me dijo una palabra \u201c\u00bfJuegas?\u201d Y no hizo falta m\u00e1s. \u00c9l me llev\u00f3 despu\u00e9s al punto exacto para volver a casa. All\u00ed estaban los mismos soldados que ya hab\u00eda visto. \u201cNo te preocupes, no se enteran nunca de nada\u201d, me dijo y antes de desaparecer susurr\u00f3 \u201ccuando quieras repetimos, me llamo Ahmed\u201d. Desde entonces, cada d\u00eda me colaba a escondidas para jugar con \u00e9l. Entre penalti y penalti, habl\u00e1bamos. De la idiota de mi hermana Adira, de la gorda de su vecina Fatima, de su padre. Muchas veces habl\u00e1bamos de su padre. Era con \u00e9l con quien jugaba antes. Hace varios meses se fue. Una noche unos soldados entraron en su casa y se lo llevaron. A \u00e9l y a otros cinco amigos. Ahmed no se enter\u00f3 de nada, duerme como un tronco. A la ma\u00f1ana siguiente se lo cont\u00f3 su madre. \u201cSe lo han llevado, se lo han llevado por defender a Palestina\u201d, le dec\u00eda y \u00e9l no entend\u00eda nada. Aquella noche le pregunt\u00e9 a mi padre \u201c\u00bfQu\u00e9 es Palestina?\u201d<\/p>\n

Cuando llegu\u00e9 Ahmed estaba en la pared de siempre pero de espaldas a m\u00ed. Hab\u00eda rojo en sus manos. Goteaba coloreando el suelo gris de aquella calle-ratonera. El mismo rojo empapaba la pared. \u201cEsto es Palestina\u201d hab\u00eda escrito con sus dedos temblorosos. Hab\u00edan encontrado a su padre. Los hab\u00edan matado a todos. \u201c\u00a1Esto es Palestina, esto es Palestina!\u201d, me gritaba Ahmed una y otra<\/p>\n

vez. Gritaba y me se\u00f1alaba con los dedos llenos de la sangre de su pueblo \u00a1Ay! Todo fue muy r\u00e1pido. Sin darnos cuenta est\u00e1bamos uno sobre otro, golpe\u00e1ndonos en el suelo. Con las caras rojas, llenas de mocos y lagrimas. Aparecieron los soldados. A m\u00ed me cogieron del cuello de la camiseta y me tiraron a un rinc\u00f3n. A Ahmed le agarraron por la espalda. En el intento de zafase ara\u00f1\u00f3 a uno de los soldados. El militar le lanz\u00f3 al suelo y le dio una patada en el est\u00f3mago. R\u00e1pidamente le cogieron cada uno de un brazo, \u00a1se lo llevaban! Yo quise gritarles pero no pude. El miedo se me agarr\u00f3 a la garganta. Tanto que s\u00f3lo supe llorar hacia dentro. Mientras la pared me gritaba, \u201cEsto es<\/p>\n

Palestina\u201d. Al llegar a casa fui directamente al ba\u00f1o. Mientras rascaba mis manos para quitarme las escamas resecas de rojo pens\u00e9 \u201cPalestina s\u00ed existe… en mi coraz\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n
