India – Clean and healthy environment for children<\/p>\n

We keep getting to know better our host organization, OSVSWA (http:\/\/www.osvswa.org\/<\/a>), as well as its partners and donors. Among them we find Practical Action (http:\/\/practicalaction.org\/<\/a>) which is a UK based NGO and an important partner of OSVSWA in different past and on-going development projects.<\/p>\n

Today<\/strong> we attended the Inception Workshop of the project \u201cDemonstration of Appropriate Technology Solutions for a Safe and Healthy Environment for Children\u201d<\/strong>. This project is promoted by Practical Action in collaboration with the Bernard van Leer foundation (http:\/\/www.bernardvanleer.org\/<\/a>) and implemented through Ruchika (http:\/\/www.ruchika.org\/<\/a>). The goal of the project is to improve access to drinking water, sanitation and waste services for children in urban slums in Bhubaneswar by providing appropriate technology options and associated capacity, knowledge and skills..<\/p>\n

The workshop was characterized through the attendance of a broad variety of different stakeholders. As chief guest the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation highlighted the synergy effects of coordinated actions of public organizations, non-governmental organizations, companies and civil society. Views from the field were presented by workers of the project area, self-help group members and slum leaders. The discussion was very useful to exchange leading practice approaches and to incorporate application oriented knowledge from the involved community.<\/p>\n

Since OSVSWA is the oldest partner of Practical Action, OSVSWA was invited to contribute to the project during inception workshop. This was also a great opportunity to strengthen bonds with its partners and laid foundations for future cooperation. For us it was very interesting to join the kick-off of this concrete one year pilot project. We are very happy that we will have the chance to follow its progress over the next six month.\"\"<\/a>Un ambiente limpio y saludable para los ni\u00f1os, por el equipo de OSVSWA.<\/p>\n

Poco a poco vamos conociendo mejor nuestra organizaci\u00f3n de acogida, OSVSWA (http:\/\/www.osvswa.org\/<\/a>), as\u00ed como sus socios y donantes. Entre ellos se encuentra Practical Action (http:\/\/practicalaction.org\/<\/a>), una ONG con base en el Reino Unido y un importante socio de OSVSWA en diferentes proyectos de desarrollo, algunos de ellos ya finalizados y otros a\u00fan en ejecuci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Hoy asistimos al Workshop de lanzamiento del proyecto \u201cDemostraci\u00f3n de Soluciones Tecnol\u00f3gicas Apropiadas para la Consecuci\u00f3n de un Ambiente Seguro y Saludable para los Ni\u00f1os\u201d<\/strong>. Este proyecto es una iniciativa de Practical Action en colaboraci\u00f3n con la Fundaci\u00f3n Bernard van Leer (http:\/\/www.bernardvanleer.org\/<\/a>) e implementada a trav\u00e9s de Ruchika (http:\/\/www.ruchika.org\/<\/a>). El objetivo del proyecto es mejorar el acceso de la poblaci\u00f3n infantil de diferentes suburbios de Bhubaneswar al agua potable, a instalaciones sanitarias y a servicios de gesti\u00f3n de residuos, proporcion\u00e1ndoles la tecnolog\u00eda adecuada y las capacidades, conocimiento y habilidades asociadas.<\/p>\n

Este workshop se caracteriz\u00f3 por la presencia de una gran variaedad de grupos de inter\u00e9s. As\u00ed, contamos con la presencia como invitado especial del Comisionado de la Corporaci\u00f3n Municipal de Bhubaneswar, que destac\u00f3 los efectos sin\u00e9rgicos que se producen cuando instituciones p\u00fablicas, organizaciones no gubernamentales, sector privado y sociedad civil se coordinan para llevar a cabo acciones comunes. Tambi\u00e9n estuvieron representados los trabajadores del proyecto, los l\u00edderes de los suburbios y miembros de grupos de apoyo a diferentes colectivos, d\u00e1ndoseles la palabra a todos ellos para que pudieran expresar su opini\u00f3n. La discusi\u00f3n result\u00f3 muy \u00fatil para compartir la visi\u00f3n inicial del proyecto e incorporar los puntos de vista de los difentes implicados.<\/p>\n

Dado que OSVSWA es el socio m\u00e1s antiguo de Practical Action, \u00e9ste fue invitado para contribuir al proyecto durante este workshop que marcaba el lanzamiento del mismo. Este evento consituy\u00f3 asimismo una gran oportunidad para estrechar lazos con sus socios y agencias donantes de cara a posibles futuras colaboraciones. Para nosotras result\u00f3 muy interesante asistir al lanzamiento del piloto de un proyecto tan ambicioso como este, y estamos muy contentas de tener la oportunidad de seguir los progresos y logros que se vayan consiguiendo a lo largo de estos seis meses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
