CONSULTATION ON PEACE

In the Memory and Solidarity with the victims Day, within the framework of the peace dialogue between the national government and the FARC in La Habana, the Educational authorities of Bogotá called together the educational communities to express themselves.

The response was massive: 250.733 letters of peace form boys, girls and youngsters were received  from 303 schools of Bogotá.

The letters replied to the following questions: ¿What do you think is peace? ¿What proposals would you make to reach peace? ¿How this peace proposals are related to the citizenship building?

Most important than the peace of work itself was the participative process through which it was developed. The process implied the thoughtful reading of the letters received, it systematization and the creation by the visual artist and the students of four obelisks with tree form that represent the commitment with peace and a nonviolent solution for the arm conflict.

In my opinion this is a good initiative of peace and citizenship building.
